Meet the Team

Psychoanalytic Services of New York City, PC is a therapy practice based in Union Square founded by Golzar Selbe Naghshineh, LP.

With more than 10 years of experience, we understand that starting therapy can be an intimidating process. We are here to guide you through it.

About Golzar Selbe Naghshineh, LP, CGP

  • Both PSNYC and NAPS were founded by Golzar Selbe Naghshineh, LP, CGP,  a New York and New Jersey State licensed Psychoanalyst, certified group psychoanalyst, teaching faculty at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies and the New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, and a reproductive and perinatal mental health specialist.

Naghshineh built NAPS, an integrative mental health program for OBGYN offices and fertility clinics, in 2014. She has been successfully running the program at Downtown Women OBGYN since its development. She partners with fertility clinics to provide group therapy treatment to their IVF patients.

Naghshineh completed her psychoanalytic training at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies and her group psychotherapy training at the Center for Group Studies. She also attended the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis for her doctorate in Psychoanalysis (ABD), where her in-progress dissertation examines the impact of online, virtual and hybrid psychoanalytic group therapy models. Naghshineh also holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from the New School University. Naghshineh is a former DONA trained birth and postpartum doula.

She began developing NAPS in response to her work as a birth and postpartum doula. Her experience with women prenatal and postpartum and her deep understanding of their needs lent her to recognize the necessity in building an OBGYN in-house intervention system. To meet patient needs, she built a platform that troubleshoots common prenatal and postpartum concerns, while also offering effective mental health care and intervention.

She also built PSNYC to train and supervise other psychoanalysts in her psychoanalytic perinatal approach in both groups and individual sessions. She has previously worked with patients at a state mental health facility in Bronx, NY.

Naghshineh has presented at the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), American Psychoanalytic Association (APsA), Jones Foundation Infertility Counseling Conference (JFICC), Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR), and the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and has spoken at various health care settings to patient populations on the reproductive spectrum. She has a forthcoming article in the journal Studies in Gender and Sexuality on Psychoanalytic Considerations on the Impact of Infertility, IVF, and the Politicization of Pregnancy on the Psyche.

  • Amanda Kadaj obtained her licensure qualifying advanced training certificate in Psychoanalysis from the Center of Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, her Masters in Psychoanalysis from the New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis (now called the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis — New York), and is currently in advanced studies for group psychotherapy training at the Center for Group Studies in New York City. She has nine years’ experience providing psychoanalytic therapy to individuals, couples and groups.

Kadaj obtained her PMH-C from Postpartum Support International and specializes in working with women across the reproductive spectrum—including fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum transitions, and perinatal loss—as well as with individuals and couples navigating grief, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. She also runs support groups for pregnancy, postpartum, and coping with IVF. Kadaj has expanded on her reproductive mental health training by obtaining continuing education certifications through the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.

As an escapee of war, Kadaj has a great deal of understanding working with culturally, and experientially diverse populations. Kadaj's experience working with diverse populations comes from her time working in the nonprofit sector with veterans, children, and families. She firmly believes in group therapy's capacity to safely foster emotional learning and growth through collective effort. Kadaj is a PS NYC associate practicing under the supervision of Golzar Naghshineh, LP, CGP, who she has trained and worked with since 2022.

  • Natalie Palmer completed her MA in Experimental Psychology at Brooklyn College, where her thesis examined the psychological and physiological impacts of childhood trauma, with a focus on gender differences across outcomes. She also served as a research coordinator in a lab studying the intersection of physical and mental health, contributing to projects on pain perception as well as somatic and visceral sensitivity.

Palmer’s experiences as a research assistant led to a deep interest in how mental states influence physical health and the importance of integrated approaches to treatment.

She is excited to be on the team and deepen her understanding of women’s unique needs across the reproductive spectrum.
